Where can I download the software and API?

After ordering a sensor system, a product engineer will be in contact with you to set up and transfer all sensor documentation, visualization software and API for your specific model. This is free with any sensor purchase.

Do I need a communications bridge?

The Surgical 6-DOF sensor does not require a communication bridge. The sensor outputs USB and EtherCAT data natively. For USB, you can integrate the sensor directly into a system using an appropriate Micro USB cable. For EtherCAT, you can integrate the sensor directly using the appropriate Molex connectors (ECAT IN/OUT: Molex 874380443, PWR: Molex 874380243).

Does the sensor come calibrated?

Yes, every ForceN sensor comes calibrated and compensated to off-axis loading.

What is “Usable Overload”?

With built-in DedicatedOverloadTM technology, you can load the sensor to the rated overload value (ex. 500% rated range) for the rated quantity (ex. 5,000 cycles) with zero degradation on performance or accuracy output. However, some customers may find it beneficial to tare the system after an overload event.

What data do I have access to?

ForceN sensors will output calibrated Force data (Fxyz) and Moment (Mxyz) data, dependent on the available degrees-of-freedom of the model. Additionally, if a sensor is equipped with a 6-axis IMU, acceleration and orientation data is also available.
